The Value of Virtue
Benjamin Franklin was of the opinion that for the democratic experiment for which he had risked his life to succeed it would need to be built more on virtue than on law and penned the virtues he considered paramount.
Franklin's model of seeking to deepen one virtue each week in is own life is one we can emulate personally in preparation for encouraging our children.
He believed also that teaching these and other virtues should be primary in public schooling to provide the necessary foundations for a stable and fulfilled society.
